Welcome to my website.
My practice explores the space between seeing and understanding. Through drawing, printmaking, photography and material processes, I create works that invite recognition while resisting fixed interpretation. I am interested in the sensation that meaning is present but remains just beyond reach.
Rather than presenting a clear narrative or image, my work offers fragments, traces, structures and disruptions that encourage viewers to actively search for connections. Familiar forms emerge and recede, creating moments where understanding feels close at hand but never fully arrives. This tension between recognition and uncertainty is central to my practice.
The work stems from an interest in the human impulse to search for patterns, connections and meaning, even when certainty remains elusive.
My recent work combines intuitive and systematic processes, often layering, obscuring, manipulating and transforming materials to generate visual relationships that remain open to interpretation. I am interested in how viewers construct meaning from what they encounter and how perception shifts as they move between certainty and doubt.
The work creates a space for sustained looking, where the act of searching becomes as significant as any final resolution.
I have been engaged in the creative arts since childhood, both as a musician and a contemporary artist. Upon completion of my City and Guilds Diploma, I was invited to take responsibility for the Stitched Textiles Levels 1-3 courses at Missenden Abbey, then part of Bucks Adult Education, and later to create and deliver advanced design courses at Missenden School of Creative Arts. Since then, I have continued to teach design to students of all levels both in the UK and Europe.
